ode to solitude
how are you solitude, my fleeting friend
you visit me in the emptiest of places, and the closest of spaces
you find irony in company... very contradicting, very dissonance inducing.
you cry out for an audience, only to find a crowd of one.
you ask for a voice; two is a crowd you say, one is enough
you strike in the deepest recesses of our minds and hearts
you break, you heal, you find a place for us to rest our tired souls
you are elusive to some and familiar to many
you ask, you show, you probe and tell
you work for God. the devil? pray tell
you are discrete and loud, you creep in, in the most shocking ways
surreptitiously, inconspicuously
you visit me in new places, you appear in familiar faces
you stir up discontent, you evoke anger
you give peace, you find us all
won't you leave me, won't you find me
maybe tomorrow, now
you visit me in the emptiest of places, and the closest of spaces
you find irony in company... very contradicting, very dissonance inducing.
you cry out for an audience, only to find a crowd of one.
you ask for a voice; two is a crowd you say, one is enough
you strike in the deepest recesses of our minds and hearts
you break, you heal, you find a place for us to rest our tired souls
you are elusive to some and familiar to many
you ask, you show, you probe and tell
you work for God. the devil? pray tell
you are discrete and loud, you creep in, in the most shocking ways
surreptitiously, inconspicuously
you visit me in new places, you appear in familiar faces
you stir up discontent, you evoke anger
you give peace, you find us all
won't you leave me, won't you find me
maybe tomorrow, now
