crap

crap... in case you were wondering, this blog is not dead yet cause i'm not dead either... hur hur... but seriously, in case you were wondering why i haven't been updating, things happening around me haven't been good... ok dont worry i dont have any chronic diseases like cancer or diabetes (yet)...

left my job on friday, 29th of june, after like 5 1/2 months. no more waking up at 6.45am, bus 97e, grumpy morning bus crowds, noisy phone calls from co-workers, shooting emails at co-workers to give them sai-kang, work, face-booking in the office, CBD lunches, people watching, more work in the office, and walks to esplanade along the singapore "river" after work... honestly i didn't think i would say this but i actually enjoyed my time immensely, working and being part of the "crowd" in raffles place even though i kept finding myself getting a little annoyed with all the worried and depressed demeanors on the faces of the people there... i guess it isn't really goodbye after all, with school internships and attachments looming... and i probably would end up there eventually, after i graduate...

speaking of which, school term is finally going to start... matriculation on friday was overwhelming, to say the least... i even had to go back on monday to complete the stations that i didn't complete on friday... signed up for 3 orientation camps out of like maximum possible of 4... honestly, i don't think 2 of them are going to be worth my time but i'll just wait and see... got forced to join one of them anyway cause it was compulsory... got matriculated with my namesake (we have the same name and surname and our i/c numbers look similar) which attracted quite a bit of attention especially when we were signing up for camps, very much to the amusement of the people who took down our names... dumbest question i heard that day was whether the two of us were brothers... well which parent in the right mind would give both their children the same name... i guess studying in uni does things to your brain, not unlike national service...

went for 2 21st birthday parties in the past 3 weeks... one of which was pretty special/weird cause i was asked to play guitar in a mini set of 3 songs...

also, i was at the nus commencement ceremony 2007... my sister was the one graduating... years of mugging and working finally paid off i guess... it still intrigues me to know that the life and career of a child born in modern Singapore is so closely intertwined with the grades that are printed on sheets of paper, and that the difference between As and Bs and Cs could mean vastly different university courses which most possibly points to greatly different careers and lifestyle and salaries. honestly, i think grading students in an age-old practice like that is the most convenient and efficient system available... it is mercenary and unforgiving to people who do not fit into the system. whether it works or not, the jury is still out... stay tuned 20 years from now to find out...

im sorry i have no pictures to upload this time...
