2 weeks ago on a tuesday, i decided to take a trip down to the national library, cause i was in the mood to spend some time alone... so i took a brisk walk from my office in raffles place to the national library at bugis, a trip which took me half an hour. i arrived feeling warm and sweaty... (note to self: do not walk crazy distance in office wear and leather shoes with heavy bag at humid rush hour timing) i was feeling too sweaty and uncomfortable to read so i went up to the non borrowing reference levels of the library to find some entertainment... there is an audio/visual section at one of the higher levels, that houses a very extensive collection of media... there are recordings of locally produced documentaries, all kinds of rare cds and movies that you would never expect to see anywhere (think breakfast at tiffany's, apocalypse now etc)... i was browsing through the section with all the local productions and i found an entire set of national day parade recordings on VCR tape...

for the uninitiated, the words are hanyu pinyin for national day parade 1986 in chinese...
i found this too...

okay that was a little out of point... anyhow, i watched half an hour of the listener supported dvd by dave matthews band and left feeling very satisfied with myself for spotting that video tape... i might just come back to watch it when im bored enough...
later that week on friday, i was at the sembawang boys brigade and girls brigade campsite, helping to run a camp... that night i had to lead a bunch of secondary 3 boys out to cycle around the sembawang, senoko and kranji areas... it was my first time trying out night cycling, and i had to take care of a group of six... the best part about it was that it was also my first time cycling in a year... so i guess i was a little crazy to do it but thankfully it turned out fine... the checkpoints were simple enough for the boys, who were supposed to do the navigating, to not get lost and the route took us to some of the most uninhabited and surprisingly scenic places in singapore... it wasn't smooth sailing though... we got chased by wild dogs charging at our bikes at full speed at least twice, and i had to keep shouting at the boys to get them to pedal faster... we managed to outlast the dogs and they gave up chasing after a while... i couldn't take any good pictures of the night cycling route but here are a few photos of the campsite, located at the edge of the island, next to the sea...

i seriously wouldn't mind staying there if i had a car...

slept barely 6 hours in 3 days... managed to get another 6 hours on sunday so it wasn't too bad... but work the following day was hell... i was struggling to keep my eyes open and couldn't concentrate on work... my imagination started to run wild again and i think i made this out of pure boredom and inability to concentrate...

this was made entirely from red and yellow rubber bands...
thankfully that week i escaped to bangkok for a short holiday... but sleep beckons so i think the pictures (if i decide to upload any) and stories (if anything interesting) will have to wait...
zzzz....
